Currency-linked Deposit is NOT equivalent to time deposits. Equity-linked Investments are NOT protected deposits and are not protected by the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Scheme. The repayment of it is also not guaranteed by the Hong Kong SAR Government's Exchange Fund.
Currency-linked deposit is structured product involving derivatives.
